Working from home during the pandemic: UX&I named to list of exemplary employers

Under the hashtag #MachtBuerosZu, Twitter was flooded with posts about companies that enable remote work and others that still have room for improvement. This led to the creation of a list of 518 companies praised by their employees for their comprehensive remote work policies. Among them: UX&I.
Ever since the first wave of the coronavirus pandemic in early 2020, companies have been called upon by the academic community, policymakers, and society at large to take responsibility and firmly establish remote work. The current online campaign #MachtBuerosZu makes it clear just how relevant this issue still is, and how much work remains to be done. But it’s not just shortcomings that are coming to light; many employees are also heaping praise on their employers.
Green Party politician Laura Sophie Dornheim has now compiled a list of the companies that stand out as particularly positive in the discussion. This list spread rapidly beyond the Twitter sphere. UX&I was not only included on the list but also met all four key criteria: mandatory work-from-home policy, exemplary hygiene measures, equipment for working from home, and support for parents.
“Working from home has always been the norm for us and was the responsibility of each individual. Since the start of the pandemic, working from home has become the standard,” says Kay, a UX consultant at UX&I. If someone absolutely needs to come into the office occasionally, UX&I has strict guidelines that are regularly updated by a specially formed “Corona Task Force.” FFP2 masks are available right at the entrance, and a ventilation plan further reduces the risk of infection. To ensure everything runs smoothly while working from home, every employee can take whatever they need from the office to work from home. In addition, there have been two bonuses so far to help employees set up their home offices. Another key factor: special consideration is given to the current needs of parents. The guiding principle is “Real Life First.” When things get tight, colleagues help each other out. In addition, work schedules can be arranged flexibly. Empathy and team spirit are everything.
