Trees instead of chocolates: taking action for climate protection
Taking action and working together to make a visible and measurable contribution to the fight against climate change: UX&I helped plant 11,000 trees in Duisburg.
It all started with brainstorming ideas for Christmas: UX&I wanted to give a gift in 2022 that would not only bring joy to the recipient but also set an example for future generations. Many team members have children, which makes the issue of sustainability all the more important. UX&I’s purpose also embodies the commitment to work “for the benefit of humans.”
“Our team brainstormed ways to spread joy in the most sustainable way possible. We traded Google Meetings and Miro boards for gloves and boots to support Plant My Tree’s big tree-planting tour,” said Kay Spiegel, Senior UX consultant at UX&I. On November 4, the team gathered in Duisburg to plant young oak and maple trees on a previously fallow field on behalf of clients and partners. By joining forces, UX&I helped ensure that Duisburg is now 11,000 trees richer. In fact, Plant My Tree’s goal of planting 100,000 trees throughout Germany was even exceeded.
Volunteers from UX&I attached the names of clients and partners to the trees, so that they could enjoy a photo of their own tree in the Christmas mailing. They also received a small packet of seeds so they could get involved themselves in the new year and literally put sustainable growth into practice.
