Provinzial Rheinland creates a platform with Product Sprint, and wins the 2020 German Brand Award

Participants in a product sprint for Provinzial Rheinland write ideas on yellow and pink sticky notes at a long table

In just twelve weeks, Provinzial Rheinland used the Product Sprint method to develop a comprehensive platform for connecting customers with tradespeople. It has now been recognized for this unique brand experience.

For the fifth time, the German Design Council and the German Brand Institute honored the year’s most successful brands. The evaluation focused on consistent brand management as well as sustainable campaigns and marketing projects. Provinzial Rheinland Versicherung’s tradespeople platform “MeinZuhause und ich” was named Brand Experience of the Year, with Excellence in Brand Strategy and Creation. “MeinZuhause und ich” makes Provinzial’s extensive network of tradespeople publicly available. The platform connects users free of charge with suitable, quality-certified professionals from the region. The jury was impressed by the harmonious blend of customer needs, user experience, and brand.

The speed at which the platform went live is remarkable. It took only twelve weeks from the initial idea to market readiness. The Product Sprint methodology, developed by UX&I and codecentric, was applied. It enables ideas to be implemented particularly quickly and creates smart, intuitive products through a consistent user focus. The process consists of three tightly scheduled and consecutive phases: Design Sprints, Implementation, and Validation. Patric Fedlmeier, Deputy Chairman of the Executive Board at Provinzial Rheinland, commented on the approach: “With ‘MeinZuhause und ich,’ we’ve implemented a flagship project for successful agile work in a cloud-native context. Through their goal-oriented approach, codecentric and UX&I were able to demonstrate that the Product Sprint method can significantly accelerate the development cycle while maintaining a high level of quality.”

Close collaboration between internal teams and external service providers also contributed to the speed of implementation. “Working with the client to define the project goals helped us establish a clear focus and set aside less relevant requirements,” said Jessica Berger, UX consultant at UX&I.
